Secret Sundays: Disney Visa Cardmembers, Say “Cheese!”

By: Amy Kawa

In this series on Dreams on Main Street, we will provide a Disney insider secret each week that we feel will enhance your Disney vacation experience and/or the planning process leading up to your actual vacation.  Big or small, these secrets are things we have found extremely useful and use on each and every one of our vacations.  Some may be more “secret-y” and/or random than others, but I promise, they’re all true and valuable.

Dreamers Secret Sunday: Disney Visa cardmembers have access to special character meet and greets and photo opportunities in Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

If you have a Disney Visa card, which we highly recommend if you’re reading this website because you must love Disney, you have access to special character meet and greets, complete with a Photopass photographer.  These meet and greets are not open to the general public, and while their wait times can be a tad lengthy, we have always been the only ones in line when we go.  Even if the lines are long, the experience is worth the wait!

The characters in these meet and greets spend more time with your party and several photos are taken as opposed to the two or three in a normal meet and greet.  You can find these special spots in Epcot by Imagination!, behind The Magic Eye Theater and the leapfrog fountain area and in Hollywood Studios in the Star Wars Launch Bay, right before you enter the store area.

At the Epcot location, you will get to meet two of the “Fab 5” characters (usually Mickey and Goofy or Minnie and Pluto), and at Hollywood Studios, you will meet Kylo Ren (although Darth Vader has been known to make an appearance or two here).  Just a heads up, if you choose the Visa meet and greet in Hollywood Studios, you shouldn’t waste your time in line to meet Kylo Ren in the Launch Bay, as you will essentially have the same experience.

You can check out some pictures below from the Epcot Visa meet and greet and  the one at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  So, next time you’re in one of these parks, have your credit card ready and say, “cheese!”

Only one person in your party has to be a cardmember in order to enter the meet and greet.  An active Disney Visa card and valid photo ID must be shown at the check-in to the meet and greet.  The Epcot meet and greet is open 1:00-7:00 p.m., and the Hollywood Studios meet and greet is open 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

  1. We make sure we stop at the Visa “meet and greet” every time. Always fun to look at the other, terribly long character lines and smile.
