Two Original Disneyland Attractions to Undergo Major Refurbishments

By: Amy Kawa

Disneyland’s Main Street vehicles and Dumbo the Flying Elephant, two opening day Disneyland attractions will close for major refurbishments on January 8, 2018.

The horse-drawn street car track will be replaced in its entirety – a first for the attraction since its opening in 1955.  Obviously, due to the lack of track, all Main Street vehicles will cease operation until late winter when the refurbishment is scheduled to end.

As for Dumbo, the attraction’s queue will be the major source of refurbishment, totally overhauling the queue’s organizational scheme and adding needed protection from the elements with, presumably, a circus tent-like structure.  The group of pachyderm will also receive a fresh coat of paint during the downtime, before opening again to the public in early spring.
