Second, Larger Solar Farm Coming to Disney World

By: Amy Kawa

Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) signed an agreement with Origis Energy to build a new solar farm on Disney property.  The farm will be 270 acres, with 518,000 solar panel modules.  The solar farm will power RCID, and over time, Walt Disney World itself.  The location of the farm will be along the western edge of Disney property, by the Palm and Magnolia Golf Course.

Disney currently has a much smaller 22-acre solar farm, shaped like a hidden Mickey, located by Epcot. Construction on the new farm will begin in the Spring and is expected to be completed before 2019.
