New Details on Galaxy’s Edge from Star Wars: Galactic Nights

By: Amy Kawa

On the heels of the news that Galaxy’s Edge will open in late fall 2019 at the Walt Disney Resort, we now have even more details on Disney’s highly anticipated new land thanks to a panel at yesterday’s Galactic Nights event at Hollywood Studios.

  • The name of the village guests will visit on Galaxy’s Edge is Black Spire Outpost.  Here’s what Disney had to say about the village:

The largest settlement on the planet Batuu, Black Spire Outpost is an infamous stop for traders, adventurers, and smugglers traveling around the Outer Rim and Wild Space. Off the beaten path, this outpost has become a haven for the galaxy’s most colorful — and notorious — characters. Widely known for the petrified remains of its once towering ancient trees, the spires now stand guard across the river valleys and plains and have long captured the imagination of travelers to this planet. To the first settlers, these petrified spires became more than just landmarks; they became the heart of the outpost itself.

  • In terms of attraction news, more details were also revealed for the “battle attraction,” which will place you directly in the middle of the war between the Resistance and the First Order.  According to the panel, a second spaceship will pertain to this attraction, in addition to the “First Order Fleet Transport” ride vehicle that was revealed during the 2017 D23 Expo. Guests will initially board a “Resistance Troop Transport” which will take them away from Batuu towards this battle escape adventure. From this info, it appears guest will board two different ride vehicles on their journey.  Does this signal an elaborate pre-show?  We love elaborate pre-shows!! (See below.)

Stay tuned to Dreams on Main Street as more details for Galaxy’s Edge are sure to emerge in the coming months!
