What’s up, Dreamers? It’s been awhile. I’m going to try and get better at that.
This is a new series we are going to be starting here at Dreams On Main Street. “In Defense Of…” will feature some Disney attractions, movies, characters, and foods that most people are not the biggest fans of, but that I think are highly highly underrated. I’ll then give my best case as to why you should give them another look. Here we go…
In Defense Of: The Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich
Why?: Everyone loves a good ice cream treat from one of the many carts you can find throughout the Disney Parks. However, the treat of choice for many is the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar. I’m not here to deny that the Mickey Bar is a classic because IT IS. I’m not here to deny that the Mickey Bar isn’t delicious because IT IS. My defense of the ice cream sandwich takes nothing away from the Mickey Bar itself. Rather, this defense is meant to shed light on some of the amazing qualities often overlooked about the Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich.
The Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich sells for $5.75, which is a decent price tag, but the sandwich itself is also quite substantial in size. Soft cookies and cream ice cream is sandwiched (hence the name, I guess) between two soft chocolate, Mickey face-shaped cookies. The best part of this treat is the soft cookies. In fact, I will sometimes eat both of the cookies on the outside and leave the ice cream. Yeah… I’m weird. Although, I also enjoy the cookies and cream ice cream because it does have that distinct Oreo flavor to it, which to me is WAY better than just plain vanilla and really elevates this treat. The sandwich itself holds up fairly well in the Florida heat, especially when compared with other ice cream options, and it’s always Instagram-ready! 😉
Most other people will tell you I’m crazy and that the Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich doesn’t really have a place in the Disney food world, but I’m here to stand up for this delicious underdog. Now, who wants an ice cream sandwich? I know I always do!
